The brief
More room, same soul
The owners loved their cottage but had outgrown it. We kept the original front exactly as it was and put the new volume at the rear, stepped down half a level to follow the lot.

Cedar siding, warm oak floors, and a wall of steel-framed glass that opens the kitchen to the garden.
